Nancy Mangum and Theresa Gibson founded Leading EDge Learning to support K-12 educators in narrowing achievement and opportunity gaps. As educators themselves, Nancy and Theresa understand the need for high-quality professional learning. Drawing upon nearly 25 years of experience in the education field, they engage in projects to rethink what educational institutions can do to apply learning science and research-based practices to better support and empower all learners.
Leading EDge Learning uses an in-depth approach, partnering with schools to understand emerging problems, operationalize effective change, and elevate knowledge gained to support K-12 public schools. We work alongside each organization’s leadership to design and deliver custom professional learning and consulting services that meet their needs.
Having partners like Theresa and Nancy provides districts with a wide perspective on education issues that can enhance experiences and provide high quality learning across multiple roles in a school system. Their work with coaches and school leaders has provided resources and momentum for continuous improvement in classrooms and schools across the state of North Carolina.
Our Foundation has worked with Nancy and Theresa on several projects, over multiple years. We have maintained an ongoing relationship because of their professionalism and the ability to relate to our stakeholders. Currently, LEL is an important partner in our Rural LIFE project (a 2017 EIR mid-phase federally-funded project).
Our partners at Leading EDge have been a valuable resource for the state of Utah for several years. They helped transition teaching and learning from the traditional method to a new blended and personalized model. Organizational change happened by involving both teachers and leaders. This work laid the foundation for a new learning environment in Utah. When COVID hit in Spring 2020 Utah Schools were much more prepared because blended learning principles and technology were already in place. Leading EDge continues to partner with Utah as we navigate these rapidly changing times in education.
